I had such an overwhelming response after posting these on my instagram stories that I had to share how I made them!
First off I cannot take credit for this genius idea, it was totally a pinterest hack! Also I will add that I don’t have a creative bone in my body, these were super easy to make and sooo inexpensive! I specifically wanted to make them for our Christmas tree but also thought they would be a cute way to tag presents!
Materials:
Matte Mod Podge
Sharpe Scissors
Pic Collage App
Rustic Wooden Ornaments
Sponge or Brush
I went to my local Michaels and they currently have all of their DIY ornaments 40% including these ones! I also picked up the mod podge there (I got the matte finish)! Each ornament cost $2.63 to make!
Step 1: Format & Print Photos
Not gonna lie this took me awhile to figure out but i finally got it!! First I knew I wanted black and white photos so I used Photos on my Mac to change the filter to Tonal. Next I used the Pic Collage app to format the photos into circles and then hit the + button to add text, i decided i wanted to add the year to all of the photos! Save these to your camera roll.
Step 2: Next I uploaded the photos to the Costco Photo Centre online, you can order them and then just go in to pick them up, super convenient and easy! I went with the matte finish as I wanted to keep with the rustic look and printed them as 4×6 to fit the ornaments! I believe Walmart, Staples and London Drugs offer the same service!
Step 3: Cut out the circles of your photos (very sharp scissors help!), I then put a layer of mod podge on the front of the ornament where the photo will go and on the back of the photo, centre and let dry!
Step 4: The final step is coating the top of the photo with the mod podge and let it dry!
Ta da!
