Holiday Glitter Cut Crease Makeup Look

I am so excited to share my first holiday makeup look with you guys!! This is my first attempt at a cut crease and I absolute love it! I had to add some glitter in there for the holidays and am thrilled with how it turned out! The Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner is an absolute must for the holiday season and I will be featuring it again next week with a totally different makeup look! With this look I couldn’t decide between a nude lip or a bold red lip so I did both;)

I have outlined step by step instructions below on how to obtain the cut crease as well as I have linked all of my makeup details below!!!

Hope you enjoy!

Step By Step

Image 1: Apply a base eyeshadow, neutral in colour. This will make it easier to blend your crease!

Image 2: Start with a bit darker shade than your base and outline where you would like the cut crease. Try not to drag the shadow to the outer corner of your eye, its an easier clean up that way!

Image 3: Slowly begin to add darker shades into the crease whether its browns or purples, I did a little combo of both. Apply the shadow darkest in the crease and blend upwards so the shadow fades up to your brows.

Image 4: Use your concealer and a concealer brush (I use this one) to draw out your cut crease. Apply a layer or two to make sure you have a nice clean line and any shadow underneath is hidden. Once this is complete add a base shadow over your eye, this could be a light neutral like I have here or a shadow with some glitter or pigment!

Image 5: Next I add my wing liner, as always using my Amaterasu Liquid Eyeliner in Black

Image 6: Lastly take the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner and slowly line your cut crease. Tip: Try to keep your eyes looking down until the eyeliner has dried otherwise it will smug!! I learned this the hard way! I applied two coats here, you can definitely add more for a stronger presence of glitter!! Optional: You can also add a little glitter under your lower lash line towards your inner corner for another pop of glitter!

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette

This palette I have worn every day since receiving it and to say I love it would be an understatement! The 3 shades of blush are beautiful, pigmented and go on like butter and the highlighters…. amaze balls!! This palette is out of stock online however it will be available in Sephora stores June 16th!

Eliasz & Ella Gold City Studs

I think I wore these every day last month. They are a beautiful staple for everyday looks and well as can be dressed up very easily.

Free People Hacci Top

I have several different colours in this top and wear them over dresses, with distressed denim. They are a great multi use top especially in the spring!

Converse Chuck Taylors

These are my go to casual shoes, they look super cute with shorts and a tee, maxi dress or distressed jeans and top! I also love that the white goes with everything and is a great summer colour!

Kate Spade 2017 Agenda

I love these agendas, I purchased the striped 2016 Agenda last year and couldn’t resist this Floral Agenda for the busy coming year!

Eliasz & Ella Rejuvenate Stone Bracelet

This has been another one of my favourites this month in combination with the Goes With Everything Bracelet. The colour combination of clear and white literally goes with everything, the perfect neutral summer bracelets!

Jackson Rowe Allie Scarf in Seafoam

I love scarfs year round and was looking for a light scarf with soft colours to take me through the summer and of course found it at Miss Boss here in Edmonton! I am a huge fan of Jackson Rowe and this scarf will be another staple in my wardrobe for years to come!

My 5 Minute Makeup Routine

Life has been so hectic lately that it only made sense to share my quick and easy 5 minute makeup routine for the days when getting ready seems like another task on your long list of things to do!

This look is perfect for those mornings when you want to feel put together but don’t want to put in a lot of effort! I literally timed myself and was off to the grocery store minutes later(note the sports bra and tank!!)  Also you’ll notice no defined eyebrows ahhh!!!! hahaha! In 5 minutes I could not do them justice so they gone! (I just added a bit of tinted brow gel to fill them in a bit!)

Ok here we go!

Depending on the amount of coverage you want a tinted primer may be enough however I have acne spots and redness I wanted covered up so I just went over my face lightly with the Loreal Lumi Cusion Foundation (my full review here), applied with a beauty blender for a bit more coverage. This foundation is buildable depending on the extent of coverage you would like and gives a beautiful glow perfect for the spring and summer months!

Use the concealer under your eyes to brighten and over any problem areas (redness/acne etc). I used one of my favourite concealers to ever grace the planet, the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Concealer  (my full review here) for this quick makeup look! Once you have finished blending you concealer, set face with any setting powder. I am currently trying the Ben Nye Luxury Powder in Cameo.

I have been obsessing over Matte Bronzers lately especially after coming into the world of highlighters and I couldn’t resist the Too Faced Soleil Matte Bronzer in the shade Milkshake. It is the perfect shade for light skin tones and did i mention it smells like chocolate!! Scrumptious!! Adding a matte bronzer will give your face some dimension without looking done up or contoured!

You all know I am now on the highlighter band wagon so for this look I wanted to add a bit of glow with Becca Cosmetics Champagne Pop. This highlighter is perfection and I love the combination with this bronzer, enough of a subtle glow to look healthy and put together!

I love me some mascara and don’t leave home without it. For this look I once again used another one of my go tos, the Tarte’s Lights Camera Lashes mascara and primer in one (full review here)! You go with what you know right!

If I am running some errands or going to the grocery store I prefer to have a very light glossy lip. That way it is super quick and easy and still looks like you put some effort in lol! For this look I used the Buxom Full On Lip Cream in the shade White Russian, literally the perfect nudey pink!

I hope you guys enjoyed this look and have an awesome week!

Save or Splurge: NYX Genius Illuminating Palette vs Becca Cosmetics Champagne Pop

Two months ago I had never used a highlighter let alone bought one and after watching some videos and doing some research I decided I needed to try out this latest trend.

Highlighting, also known as strobing is used to enhance and accentuate your bone structure as the light reflects the pigment of the highlighter, giving the appearance of a healthy glow. I have come to adore this look especially for the coming summer months!

The key to using highlight and not looking like a hot mess.

  1. A little goes a long way! I only use highlighter on my cheekbones, above the curve of my brows, on my cupids bow and down the bridge of my nose. You can also use highlighter on your collar bones if you are wearing a tank top to help accentuate your bone structure! Going over board on your application will result in a hot mess!
  2. When using a highlighter only use shimmer in your highlighter, use matte powders for the rest of your face Ie blush, bronzer, foundation etc. This will help accentuate and highlight your features as well as help avoid a your whole face reflecting light!
  3. Find a highlighter that compliments your skin tone. If your skin has pink undertones look for a highlighter with those same pink undertones, for olive skin look for yellow/gold undertones etc.

The first highlighter I ever purchased was this NYX Genius Illuminating Palette at Shoppers Drug Mart. For the price it is really unbeatable! $30 for 7 shades!! Highlighters range from $10 (Colourpop) to $50 (Becca Cosmetics), some of you may have heard of Champagne Pop, the collaboration between Jaclyn Hill and Becca Cosmetics?! Yes?! This highlighter is probably one of the most expensive ones on the market at $50, so I wanted to compare the two and see if the price difference was really worth it?!

Compared Side by Side with the NYX (bottom left) and Champagne Pop

(Left: Champagne Pop, Right: NYX Genius Palette bottom left)

The main difference between the two is Champagne pop has more of a peachy gold undertone and the Nyx Pallette shade is a bit more pinkish gold in pigment however both are gorgeous shades and if you have pink undertones in your skin I would recommend the NYX shade. Both have a buttery texture and a little goes a long way in each products case. I really like that champagne pop is the perfect neutral for any skin tone so it gets a little more browny points but in the end both are gorgeous highlighters. If cash flow is tight you are getting a fantastic deal with the Nyx palette (7 for the price of 1) and you are not compromising on quality. If you are a seasoned highlighter I would recommend Champagne pop!

Hope you enjoyed!
