1970’s Inspired Fall Look

I could easily say fall fashion is my absolute favourite, not only for the comfort, textures and rich colours but for the layering! When I was putting this look together I was inspired by the era of hippies and flare jeans, with an modernized, edgy & boho vibe! I am such a huge fan of ponchos (especially ones that can double as scarves) and styling this one in particular with an edgier criss cross t shirt from Tobi and flare jeans worked flawlessly! Each piece really complimented each other and it is an outfit that would look good and compliment any body type!

I have linked all of my outfit details below and hope this look inspires any of you to have fun with your fashion<3

Fall Must Haves

A Little Life Update

I can’t believe this is my first post in a couple weeks (oops!) It has been so refreshing to take some time off and spend it with my little family! Clayton is still on a two week away, one week home shift so we’ve managed pretty well with that and have been taking huge advantage of the week he is home! This last turn around he took some extra time off and  we took our first family trip to Kelowna and had a week of sheer bliss! Our days were spent in the pool, out on adventures and in the sun, it was just what we needed to end the summer!

Cash just turned 8mths this week and has started crawling (ahh!!!). I’ve probably burned 10,000 calories in the last week chasing him around and moving things out of his way haha!! He’s talking up and storm and has even started climbing on things, I’m sure it won’t be long and our little nugget with be standing/walking on his own (insert cry emoji!) He is growing up so fast!! He’s been eating purees for a couple months now and we have started some larger pieces of food now and he is absolutely devouring everything (just like his dad haha!) The sleeping front has been interesting, I initially had him down to one feeding from 6pm to 6am but with the traveling and chaos of the last couple weeks he’s been waking up for two zzzz!. My goal this week is to get him back down to 1!!

Fall Must Haves

Any who back to the blog post!! (As a mom I’m sure anyone can relate you can talk about your kids for hours haha!) Fall is definitely my favourite season for fashion, bulky sweaters, rich fall colours, boots, textures and scarves! Give me all the goodies!

Like any other season it can be hard to narrow down what to buy or leave on the rack. I always go in with a mind set of “Is this classic or trendy?” I truly try to stay on the classic route because I know season to season these will be the pieces I continually reach for. It is also much easier on your wallet (maybe not initially) but in the long term!!

I think you also want to keep in mind, functionality (where and when will you be wearing these pieces!) As a new mom I now look for comfortable, affordable, easy to style pieces that I can wear while chasing my little crawling man around. The best thing about all of the pieces I mention below is they accomplish all of the above as well as can be just as perfect for a working women, all while still looking fashionable! You never have to compromise on comfort over looking and feeling great in the pieces you are wearing!

When it comes to being prepared for fall, these items are on my must have list!

Suede Leggings (Gentle Fawn Eastwood Leggings here & here)

To me fall and leggings go hand in hand, you can’t have one without the other haha!! Leggings are an absolute must for fall and I am absolutely loving these suede leggings by Gentle Fawn, classic yet with a bit of edge! So much so I’ve got them in multiple colours! They are comfy, stretchy and can pretty much be worn with anything! A definite fall must have with an oversized sweater or pattern dress!

A Textured Handbag (Matt & Nat Cork Kintla & Ohara here & here)

I believe this was on my must haves last fall (classic vs trendy but still edgy and fun!) but how can they not be! I own both of these handbags and they are my absolute favourite come fall! The cork adds such a gorgeous texture that can literally be worn with anything, dressed up or down! The Kintla is the perfect work bag with an inner zipper pouch that easily fits a 13′ laptop! The Ohara is the perfect on the go bag and something I will be using so much this fall as I can wear it cross body with my diaper backpack or it is small enough to fit inside! The Ohara can be worn as a cross body or clutch and has an easy open top!

Neutral Jacket

I picked up the Rebecca King Techno Suit Jacket from Miss Boss earlier this month and am absolutely in love! Its so soft, comfortable and is so multidimensional with the light grey tones! You can wear it with jeans and some booties or dressed up with skirt and blouse or dress! Stayed tuned for it to be back in stock at Miss boss! I also added a second alternative, the BB Dakota Fleece Maggie Coat as another neutral jacket but different fit and style!

Ankle Booties

I own both of the Meade booties in both orange and grey and they are absolutely my go to shoes come fall( pictured above in grey!). With a small heel they are easy to put on while juggling life, especially now with a baby! I also love that they look amazing with a cute fall turtleneck dress or jeans!!

Last but not least, a Scarf!

If you’ve been following me for a while you know that come fall a scarf is included in every one of my daily outfits! I absolutely love what scarves can bring to an outfit, texture, pattern and comfort (not to mention if you are a Canadian, added warmth!)

I was absolutely elated when Warehouse One approached me to partner with them to showcase some of their fabulous new styles for fall! They have 129 stores throughout Canada and also offer online shopping as well at http://www.warehouseone.com.

I really resonated with their styles and their goals to give their customers fashion forward pieces that fit well, flatter and are affordable. As women and moms it is so important to our self confidence that we feel good in the clothes we are wearing. I could not say enough good things about the selection, fit and comfort of the clothes I tried on at Warehouse One, especially their jeans!! I tried about 4 different pairs and besides the length of one, I loved every single one of them. I ended up choosing the Bottoms Up Skinny Jeans, that are cut and sewn to give a little boost to your bum! I mean what women doesn’t want a little extra lift back there that doesn’t require the gym!! They also have a beautiful stretch in them, I don’t know about you but I won’t buy my jeans without a little stretch, it makes them more comfortable and flattering! I also instantly fell in love with this olive relaxed tee and floral bomber. Both styles are so cute, comfortable, flattering and super affordable, each piece giving you endless possibilities when it comes to working with your own wardrobe! I have added the direct link for each piece below!

November Instagram Roundup

This last month has gone by faster than I could have ever imagined! With Christmas and our little mans due date just weeks away it is all starting to sink in that soon our little family of three will be four. I am a ball of excitement and nerves, I just cannot wait to meet our little man!!

We are feeling pretty prepared (I guess as prepared as you can be) but I know nothing will truly prepare us for his arrival!! The nursery is finished, the diaper bag packed and I am slowly in the process of packing Clayton and I’s overnight bag and getting the car seat in the car. It is all so surreal. I remember when I first found out I was pregnant, I kept thinking how long we had to wait to meet our little one and just wanted to fast forward to 9mths and now month 9 is here!!! ah!!!

Any who, I wanted to round up some of my November instagram outfits, this was a big hit last month and I know once baby comes my daily outfits will no longer be instagram worthy (which I cannot wait for by the way!!)

Hope you enjoy!

Warm Plaid

When I think of fall I can’t help but think of warm neutrals and plaid! This outfit is a great everyday wear and can easily be dressed up with a dress and tall boots. The functionality of a good cardigan and scarf can go a long way!! As an added bonus both the scarf and cardigan are very reasonably priced at $24 and $36 (linked below). I am also so in love with this cork bag, I can’t tell you how many times I get stopped to ask where it is and what it is made out of! It is Matt & Nat’s Cork Kinta bag (linked below) and its made from recycled material. Believe it or not the cork bag transitions flawlessly from day to night and the neutral colours make it a win for every outfit!!

As I close in on 30 weeks I finally decided I needed some maternity jeans! Jeans were the only thing causing me some discomfort so I headed over the Yo Mama Maternity and fell in  with these Queen Mum dark denim jeans. I wanted dark denim to that I was able to transition them from work to casual, and be able to dress them up and dress them down! They also will transition to non maternity jeans after turtle is born which makes the investment even more worth it!

I hope you guys have a great weekend! I am off to get my winter tires put on;)

Fuzzy Fall Neutrals – Thanksgiving

It is Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and I could not be more thankful for the many blessings in my life. We have so much to be thankful for, it is sometimes overwhelming. Carrying our beautiful baby boy has made me appreciate every ounce of health and wellness both myself and my family have. Ive been so blessed to have the opportunity to be pregnant and grow our little turtle, feeling him move and kick  (even at all hours of the night) and I am trying desperately to cherish every second as its going by way too fast!!

I am also so thankful for all of you and the ongoing support and love I receive on a daily basis. This blog has brought so many amazing people into my life and I truly love sharing this experience with all of you! So thank you!!

Lastly I am so thankful for my health, my home and family. Encountering so many people on a daily basis has made me realize that life can be really hard on people and although this economy has hit our family hard, as I am sure many of you can relate, the greatest blessings carry no price tag.

Now onto the outfit!!;) I have been living in this fuzzy sherpa vest that I picked up from Anthropologie last fall. Unfortunately it is no longer available however I have found exact replicas for much cheaper!! You can thank me later;) I wanted to put together a cozy neutral outfit, great for a Thanksgiving style option or a day at work! One of the reason I love this vest so much is the versatility. I wore it earlier in the week with a plaid top and jeans for a casual look, it looks great dressed up as Ive paired it here with this non maternity long sleeve midi dress that is bump friendly and only $26! Lastly I couldn’t help but add some suede and leather details for the full fall effect!!

I have linked all of the outfit details below! Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

September Favourites

I know I say this every month, but seriously, where did September go!! I feel like these last couple months have flown by so quickly and as much as I want turtle to be here I wish time would slow down just a tad!

I have rounded up my favourites items from this past month, you can see more on my Instagram @bootsandbassets and my Facebook page Boot and Bassets!

Hope you enjoy!

Tanya Cardigan By Brunette The Label

I picked up this cardigan on my recent trip to regina and I’m seriously in love. For all the tall girls out there it is the perfect length, has 3/4 inch sleeve and the combination of black and white knot make it literally capable of being worn with anything!

Vince Camuto Melaya Suede Boots

I got these bad boys a true the Nordstrom sale this past summer and they are by far my favourite fall boot. The neutral suede colouring makes it an easy pairing and I am such a huge fan of the over the knee style! Insert heart eyes emoji!

Kat Von D Project Chimps Liquid Lipstick (In Store at Sephora)

This lipstick is definitely a fall favourite, it is the perfect matte red with orange undertones! Also 20% of the sales for this liquid lipstick will be donated to help end animal testing. This liquid lip is 100% cruelty free and an absolute must for your fall makeup line!

Jackson Rowe Scout Scarf

As usual anything plaid ends up falling into this list. I am obsessed with the entire line of Jackson Rowe Scout Scarfs, including this shade in a crimson! Oh and they are only $36!! Can be  bought at Trinity Clothing in Regina and Miss Boss in Edmonton!

One Fated Knight Archbishop Hobo (In Edmonton at Miss Boss)

I nabbed this bag at the recent 50% off sale and I couldn’t not be happier the my purchase! It is the perfect cognac shade to go with all my endless fall outfits!

Stella & Dot Engravable Bar Necklace  (Search Stylist: Sarah Pankiw)

This is my favourite necklace from the Stella and Dot line! Customizable to any personal message makes for the sweetest gift or in my case gift to myself!!
