Winter Work Wear Essentials

Im not sure whether this should be titled winter or fall work wear considering the snow on the ground and the fact that it is November (Im still trying to wrap my head around this one!), regardless I’ll just go with it! One of the best things about the fall/winter season is the ability to layer! Different patterns and textures allows for a variety of fashionable combinations that are suitable in a work environment. I am loving this pairing of a skirt and printed collared shirt underneath a sweater with leggings and boots. It is very office appropriate while still being comfortable and chic! Below I have shared my fall/winter work wear essentials:

Wool Trench Coat – With winter arriving sooner than expected a great wool trench coat is a must for our Alberta climate! I bought this Michael Kors Wool Trench at Nordstroms on clearance last fall and I have worn it consistently throught the fall and winter seasons. The neutral colouring allows me to pair it with any combination of outfit and the gold details add a beautiful touch for a classy jacket! I have linked its details as well as similar coats below!

Functional Jewelry: I nabbed this necklace for $25 a couple weeks ago and cannot take it off, the quality is pretty good considering the price however I am glad I did not pay the retail price of $68. If you are going to buy the necklace wait for a sale!

Its no secret that I am obsessed with Eliasz & Ella and I wear their amazing bracelets daily, however most don’t know that they also have a gorgeous line of rings and midi rings that I cannot take off! With Christmas coming up their whole jewelry line is perfect for any fashionista! PS They are having a huge Holiday Party this coming Saturday November 14th at Miss Boss here in Edmonton where they will have limited edition pieces as well as some great sales!! I have linked the event page here, see you there!!!

A Wool Skirt – As you may recognize, I am loving wool for this season! Its warm, functional and stylish with unlimited outfit options! This skirt was purchased at Jcrew also on clearance in the states. Details linked below, and remember most of my fall items I purchase in the spring when everything goes on sale!

Sweaters – This basic black sweater is from Joe Fresh, $20 and super cute. You do not need to fork out a lot of money for great sweaters, Joe Fresh and Old Navy have great options in tons of colour choices for a third of what you would pay at Jcrew or similar!

Work Bag: This Matt & Nat Raylan has been my go to bag from the second I got it. With the neutral colouring I have been able to transition from spring/summer graciously into winter without skipping a beat! This bag has everything, a laptop sleeve, 4 exterior pockets and a second pocket on the interior! Whether you need it for work or a diaper bag I highly recommend this bag. It comes in some beautiful colours, is made in Canada and doesn’t hurt any animals in the process!!

Fleece Leggings: I live in these puppies most of the fall and winter! Costco has an amazing deal on fleece leggings, 2 for $12.99!!! Ive bought my fair share as they are great quality and you cannot beat the price!

Collared Shirts – Plaid is a staple of mine and this little plaid number I got at Old Navy as well! They have so many plaid colour variations to choose from it allows you to have some fun with your outfits! JCrew is also an awesome place to get collared shirts, my instagram photo awhile back with the lined collared shirt was from Jcrew on clearance!

Self Tanner: Can you believe how white I look;)

Boots – Last but definitely not least and probably one of the most important for a great fall work outfit is the boots! I love the cognac colour, it gives your outfit a pop of colour without being over baring or lost as many black boots can be if you are wearing a black outfit and black leggings! These Tory Burch boots my hubby picked up at the Toronto outlet (doesn’t he have amazing taste;)!) and I am so in love with them! Key things to look for when purchasing boots, comfort and quality. Boots are something I don’t hesitate to invest more money on because if you take care of them and bring them to your local Shoe Repair store for new soles and a good polishing they can last you several seasons! That being said I have never paid full price for a pair of Tory Burch boots, the outlet malls in the states are the best place to find great styles at a huge discount, all of my boots have been bought in Vegas at the North Outlet Mall!

Hope you enjoy! xo

Weekend Getaway – What I Packed!

I have been working in Regina since yesterday and head back to Saskatoon tonight after my case to spend the weekend with my hubby and his grandparents! We rarely get to go on road trips together as we both work and travel so much so I have really been looking forward to this weekend even though it is a combo work/pleasure trip!

While I was packing I thought I might as well share what I am packing and how I plan my outfits! Driving is a whole nother ball game as you can bring as much junk as you want and you aren’t limited by weight or number of bags however I didn’t want to go overboard! I much prefer driving personally because I can set my own schedule and don’t have to worry about shopping too much and not having enough luggage room for my junk!!;)

The key to packing for any trip is to coordinate your outfits. You shirts should go with every pant or skirt you bring and your shoes should work with every outfit combination. This may mean you go with a monochrome look and add colour in your accessories! If you are just throwing things in your luggage for the sake of packing you are wasting valuable space! I can bring 2 tops and 3 bottoms that all work together and have 6 outfits for a trip! Packing when it is cold out is also more difficult because your items tend to be thinker, giving you even more reason to plan! With the weather scheduled to be around 5-10C I am going to be layering up like crazy! The trip is 4 days, 2 work, 2 casual days so this is what I am packing!

Hope you enjoy! xo

Olive

Trees are changing colour, leaves are falling, pumpkin spice lattes are being drank, and my favourite colour has come back into my life! It is definitely fall here in Edmonton and I am doing a happy dance! This time of year is by far one of my favourites!

It is no secret one of my go to, all time favourite colours is Olive. Im obsessed! It literally can be paired with any shade and gives it a subtle pop of colour without being overwhelming or overpowering. One of my favourite ways to wear this colour is with accessories until I found this midi skirt for $18! I decided to pair this outfit with nude accents to make sure I really let the Olive shine, and yes maybe I went overboard on the Olive but I love it!

Midi skirts and dresses are huge this fall and I am loving the appropriate length for work and also loving the fact that I can pair them with an oversized sweater and boots for a casual look!

I have linked all of my outfit details belowI hope you all have a great weekend and we’ll talk soon!!

Hope you enjoy! xo

Matt & Nat Clarke in Cocoa (here here) The moment I saw this bag online I knew I had to have it, thanks to Miss Boss I was able to get the colour I wanted and it is perfection. The rich chocolate brown enhances any outfit and this will be a favourite for this fall season for sure!

Jackson Rowe Olive in Hunter (here & here): It is no secret I am love this olive green colour for fall and this scarf is so comfortable and looks amazing with every outfit casual or dressy. Jackson Rowe has become one of my favourite Canadian brands this year and you can shop them locally here at Miss Boss!

Chanel Rouge Allure in Passion: I am loving red lipstick and my absolute favourite is this Chanel lippy! It is the perfect red, goes on flawlessly and last all day! If you are looking for a classic lipstick this is your girl!

Buxom Lip Polish in Samantha: This has been my favourite lip gloss for over a year now, I fell off the gloss train for a bit as I was loving the liquid lipsticks but this month I got back on the train and this gloss is the perfect nude with just a hint of pink! Perfect for any time of day!

Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Palette: I also had this palette as a favourite in June but it is worth a repeat! I use this palette every day whether I am looking to contour or just for some structure! Out of all the kits I have used this is by far the most creamiest, pigmented palette and is perfect for contour newbies or seasoned professionals!

Eliasz & Ella Tiger Eye Necklace: This stunning tiger eye necklace is a perfect addition to any fall wardrobe. The stone itself captures lighting and different angles, shining more brown is some light and more yellow in other.. like I said stunning! This necklace will go fabulously with any fall outfit!

Toms Desert Burlap Wedge: With the cold weather approaching I have been reaching for booties and these burlap wedges are gorgeous, comfortable and help out a good cause, what more can you ask for?!!

Eliasz & Ella Wooden Jasper Stone Bracelet: This beauty is my current go to, with a mixture of browns, yellows, greys and blacks it is the perfect combination for any fall outfit and also for any casual or dressy style!

Don’t forget to check by on Friday for my fashion feature! Have a great hump day!
