Stripes and Faux Leather Leggings

I wanted to put together a fun yet comfortable work look for the week! I havent done one in a while and considering most of us spend our days at work it only makes sense!

I love me some stripes and this top from Calvin Klein has been such a great staple in my wardrobe even prior to my baby bump and it still fits, yah!! We are closing in on 33 weeks and I am still trying to avoid purchasing a lot of maternity pieces and make use of the clothes I have! The only maternity piece in this outfit are the faux leather leggings (Ive linked non maternity vegan leather leggings here, these are on my buy list post baby!). They give the outfit some flare, they are super comfortable and versatile, easily paired with a sweater or tunic top! The blazer is also Calvin Klein (a great  Winners find) and is another key staple in a work wardrobe! I have linked my outfit details below!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Pregnancy Update – 31 Weeks

I was fortunate enough to spend this past week and weekend with my mom and aunt here in Calgary! We took advantage of the work week ahead we had in Calgary and decided some girls time was a must!

Sunday was forecasted to be a beautiful day so we decided we should head to Canmore for the day. We had brunch at the Crazy Weed in Canmore (highly recommend), I had the French Toast and it was absolutely to die for! After walking around the river and snapping some pictures, we decided an impromptu trip to Banff was in order. The Christmas Shop and Fudgery were calling my name!!! It was such a great way to spend the weekend and made the work week in ahead a little less painful;) Throughout the week we also visited some great locally owned restaurants in Calgary including Rea’s and Broken Yolk, I would highly recommend all of them! Ive shared some pictures from some of the restaurants (I was obviously on a french toast kick;))

Pregnancy wise Ive been feeling great, still making several trips to the washroom throughout the night but other than that the time is flying by! We are closing in on 32 weeks and turtle is moving more than ever! Ive noticed his movements are definitely getting stronger and he consistently has dance parties around 2am and 430am;) Ive been continuing chiropractic and massage which I swear is the reason I feel so good. I have however noticed my body shifting more in the recent weeks, it must be preping for birth… ahhh!!!! In preparation for birth I have also started drinking Red Raspberry Leaf Tea which is suppose to help the uterus and other female organs prep for labour, at this point whats the harm and if it helps, yah!! Weekly baths with lavender epson salts has also become a much needed part of my routine.

Fashion wise I am finding myself reaching more for comfy and functionality than anything. C’est Moi leggings and oversized sweaters have become a staple and are really a must for any pregnant women!! I am still trying to avoid maternity clothes as much as possible and this combo makes it so easy and doable!

I hope you guys have a great weekend and enjoy all of the halloween festivities!!

Non Maternity Fashion for the Growing Belly

I have been asked a lot lately as to what brand and styles of non maternity clothes I am wearing so I wanted to share my favourite non maternity outfits for fall that style flawlessly with the bump!

Keys to remember when buying non maternity for the bump?!

Stretch – Look for items made with elastic that will stretch and grow with your bump

Ruching – Helps accentuate the bump while allowing the outfit to stretch with you.

Swing/Shift – Dresses and shirts in this style will easily adjust to your bump while still remaining comfortable.

Length – Keep in mind as your bump grows, expanding outwards and upwards, length will become important. Look for extra length in tops and dresses (midi instead of mini) to accommodate the bump!

First up!

Layering Basics

I live in C’est Moi Seamless Bamboo basics all of which I had before I was pregnant. These are an absolute must for your basic wardrobe before, during and after the bump, pieces you can invest in and know they will last you years!! C’est Moi has a huge variety of pieces including tanks, tees, dresses and leggings all of which have fit and grown with my bump flawlessly so far at 25 weeks! You can purchase C’est Moi in Canada here!

Dresses & Tops

When looking for non maternity dresses keep in mind stretch, length and flow. All of these dresses below would fit the bump before and after, the key is to make sure they have enough elastic to grow with you and the length to sustain the belly growing upwards and outwards! Lastly look for midi dresses, shift dress or a line dresses that will conform to your bump while still remaining comfortable!

Most of the above can be said for tops as well, Ive resorted to more flowy, stretchy tops like the ones Ive linked below. Again keep in mind stretch and length!

Ponchos & Bottoms

Considering it is now fall Ponchos are an amazing option for that growing belly. Paired with a C’est Moi tank, some leggings or stretchy jeans, booties and you are ready to go! I also love ponchos because regardless of your size of shape they are another staple in your outfit that will fit before, during and after pregnancy!

Lately Ive been resorting to stretchy knit skirts and leggings. You can always go a size up if they are fitting a bit snug but it still allows you the versatility to dress up for work and feel comfortable which is seriously the most important!!Collage_FotorNonmaternity2.jpgCardigans/Ponchos: Striped Frayed PonchoMulti Colored Wrap ShawlTasseled Hem PonchoOpen Longline Blazer
