1970’s Inspired Fall Look

I could easily say fall fashion is my absolute favourite, not only for the comfort, textures and rich colours but for the layering! When I was putting this look together I was inspired by the era of hippies and flare jeans, with an modernized, edgy & boho vibe! I am such a huge fan of ponchos (especially ones that can double as scarves) and styling this one in particular with an edgier criss cross t shirt from Tobi and flare jeans worked flawlessly! Each piece really complimented each other and it is an outfit that would look good and compliment any body type!

I have linked all of my outfit details below and hope this look inspires any of you to have fun with your fashion<3

Easter Stripes with a Pop Of Colour

With Good Friday tomorrow it is time to celebrate Easter with good food and family! With Easter usually comes dinners, brunches and an excuse to get a little dressed up! I have teamed up with Miss Boss to bring you a beautiful option for an Easter outfit this weekend!

Monochromic stripes are such a great option, in my opinion, for any outing casual or dressy and this BB Dakota Jaxson Striped Dress is utter perfection. A thick and stretchy material, it is perfect for a comfy laid back option with sneakers or a dressier look like this one that we have put together! (I also love that its not tight especially if you are conscious of your mid section like this mama!!) It allows you an easy to pair base with any other piece in your wardrobe, patterned (floral would be adorable too) or colour! (It snowed the day we took these photos so I added some leggings and boots however a cute pair of ankle booties without the leggings would be a great option too if the weather is warmer where you are!). Also keep in mind I am 5’10 so the dress came a bit high on me but for anyone smaller it would be a great fit without the need to wear anything underneath!

Now lets talk accessories! This coral Matt and Nat Abiko clutch is the perfect pop of pink for this Easter weekend! I love the clutch handle and the three pockets that allow you to fit everything you need! I paired this outfit with knee high boots and a sparkly necklace and earrings to dress it up a bit (all accessories are linked below), you could also get away with a pop of colour with your accessories too. See what I mean, the options are endless!

Lastly lets talk about this bomber. I mean what can you say, this BB Dakota Troy Jacket is perfection! I loved the cropped length, perfect to be paired with a dress like this one or a t-shirt and jeans! I also love the beautiful silver detailed zipper and drawstring bottom. This is a jacket that will transition flawlessly from spring to summer to fall and the neutral black colouring will compliment any outfit! Definitely a wardrobe staple for sure!

Ive posted the remaining details of my outfit below, I hope you all have a wonderful Easter filled weekend with yummy food and much love!

February Favourites

The fact that February is over is a testament to how fast my life has been flying by recently! Becoming a mom has been the most amazing thing I have ever experienced however it is not without its challenges. Also having a husband start shift work up north has tested my resilience, patience and the ability to function on minimal sleep haha! That being said  we are all doing so great, enjoying every day even if most days we don’t get out of our pjs, that is why this month it is all about the basics. These are all items i have used religiously this past month!

Hope you enjoy!

Z Supply Camo Tee /Z Supply Courier Pant

This is one of my favourite brands not only because they are reasonable priced but because they create comfortable, function pieces that are awesome for a new mom needing comfort and durability!

Lululemon Align Pant

I bought these pants almost a year ago before my trip to Hawaii and I am still so in love with them. They are so soft and the perfect pant for a mom avoiding those pre pregnancy jeans!!

Sugi Tree Bath Potions

I took my first bath as a mom before Clayton left to go out of town and I cannot even tell you how much I enjoyed it, not only because it was 30minutes to myself but because this bath potion made it even more relaxing and enjoyable. I am so in love with this company, all of their products are hand crafted in Toronto and available now at Miss Boss here in Edmonton. Lastly and my most favourite part of supporting this company is that they donate 10% of each purchase to the Toronto Humane Society, Ontario SPCA, Rocky Mountain Animal Rescue, Wildlife Rescue Association of BC and World Wildlife Fund. How amazing is that!!! Go buy a batch or two, they also make great gifts!!

L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara Primer

If I am putting on any makeup, mascara is one of those things I always reach for for even a minimal slap on of makeup! I became a fan of mascara primer when I first tried the Dior primer however the pricetag was less than ideal so I then graduated to the Tarte primer and now this drugstore primer, and it is one word, amazing! Keep an eye out for a mascara primer comparison coming to the blog soon!

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment

This is a product I keep on me at all times. My lips have been so dry lately and I use it in conjunction with the lip scrub for flawless, hydrated lips!

Kate Spade Planner

I feel like I am already behind this year, so many things I want to do and ideas I have but lately with an 8 week old tied to me, its been harder than I thought to have that me time to do anything but nurse, change diapers and have the occasional shower! Enter the planner. I love being able to plan ahead, write down ideas for posts and have a schedule ahead of time. I have to capitalize on the time i do have and this helps me organize and delegate my time accordingly!

Rebecca King 3 Way Sweater

This sweater is life. I am a huge fan of the Saskatchewan designer and this sweater I have lived in since giving birth. The material is beautiful and flattering, something I can throw on with jeans or leggings and feel put together which is really nice these days!!

Kevin Murphy Fresh Hair Dry Shampoo

Lastly, this is a product I could not have lived without these last two months. With Clayton being away I don’t get any me time including showering without company so the 2, 3, 4 day old hair has had to do and this product makes it doable!

Cash’s Birth Story

I have been a  little MIA lately, we welcomed our son, Cash David John Pankiw on January 4th weighing 8 pounds, 5 ounces!! We have been relishing in everything newborn baby and loving every second of it! Ive had so many inquiries about Cash’s  arrival that I wanted to share the best day of our lives with you all!

Cash’s original due date was Dec 25th, so after deciding he was not going to come on his own I was scheduled for an induction on January 3rd. I was induced using cervadil at 830am and started to experience very light cramping around 4pm. By 730pm the contractions were so intense, it was time to head to the hospital! I can’t even tell you what was going through my mind on that 10minute car ride! First off, it felt like a 45minute drive and I was so nervous, excited and scared I could barely think straight!! By the time we got back to the induction and assessment department I was begging for the epidural, I have never felt that kind of pain before (all the power to the mamas who go through labour medication free!!) Thankfully within a half hour of arriving, I was wheeled into the delivery room and my god sent (anesthesiologist) had started the epidural. I originally had hoped for an unmedicated birth but those wishes went straight out the window when the sensation of a knife being driven into my ovaries started!!

Once the epidural kicked in, i was in heaven. I stayed comfortable until about 245am when the epidural started to wear off. Our nurse checked and Cash’s head was down and it was time to push! That moment was so surreal, the time had finally come for him to join the world!! Pushing was by far my favourite part of the entire labour, it gave me a purpose and something to focus on. I pushed for about 40minutes and at 330am our little Cash entered the world. It was the most amazing and surreal experience of my life, he was here and I was a mom. I don’t think I have ever cried as hard as I did when they laid him on my chest. In that moment our lives changed forever. I watched my husband become a dad, my parents become grandparents and our siblings and friends become aunts and uncles. I also have to commend  my hubby for being so amazing, he was such a rock through the delivery and has been beyond amazing supporting and caring for us both<3

Post delivery, two things I was adamant on (as long as we were both healthy) was immediate skin to skin and delayed cord clamping. I got an amazing 10-15 minutes with him skin to skin before Clayton cut the cord! I also requested the placenta be packed up as I knew I wanted to have it encapsulated (I will update you on this as I continue to take them!)

Overall, our whole experience at the Royal Alex was amazing. All of the staff, nurses and doctors were fantastic and I can’t thank them enough for bringing our son into the world and keeping us both safe and healthy!

Since his birth, he did have a small stint of jaundice which was so scary for us newbie parents but he was such a champ and only had to spend 24hrs under the photo therapy lamps. He is also such a great baby, he only cries when he’s hungry or needs a change! We are breastfeeding (i will talk more about this in another post as i have faced some difficulty because of my breast reduction surgery) and topping up with formula however I am still hoping with the help of supplements I will be able to exclusively breastfeed. As much as I miss sleep, I am cherishing every single moment with him as I know in too soon of time he will grow up.

I also want to thank our friends and family who have been so supportive in helping make this transition period so smooth! I am hoping within the week to get back to blogging and sharing all of our experiences with you guys!
