Nude/Neutral Lips

Too Faced Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick is my go to lipstick and when they came out with their new Melted Chocolate line I knew I had to see them in person for myself! I have been on the hunt for the perfect nude shade of lipstick for an everyday look for awhile and I have finally found it!!! The perfect nude shade that compliments my skin tone and doesn’t make me look washed out!! Anyone who has searched for a nude lipstick knows this can be a difficult task!

Trying to find the right product in the right brand can be very difficult. Things I am looking for when I try new lipstick shades/brands are quality of product/packaging (is it going to last), consistency ( who long the product stays on, hydration or drying (this is a big deal for me as I can’t stand when my lips are dry!) and also the brand itself. Too Faced Cosmetics is a cruelty free brand and I adore not only their lipsticks but their other cosmetic products as well. The Too Faced liquid lipstick applicator is by far the best one I have ever used, the sponge on the ends allows for flawless lines and smooth and soft application!

Too Faced just came out with this new Chocolate line and I lovvve them all! They have three matte shades and three glittery shades, the struggle to pick one was real but I did settle on the Chocolate Milkshake as I was looking for that nude shade! This colour has slight brown/pink undertones which are a must to avoid that washed out look and a beautiful hydrating finish. Oh and did I also mention they smell like chocolate!! Yummy!!! I would also highly recommend the rest of the line as the product consistency and pigments are so beautiful! I am still trying to figure out which one I would like next!!

I have included some picture below sharing my go to nude/brown lipsticks (Maybelline Color Sensation Line) as well as their swatch comparisons! I have also added another swatch including the comparison between my go to Mac Whirl colour and this Too Faced Chocolate Milkshake!!

Hope you guys enjoy! xo

Weekend Getaway – What I Packed!

I have been working in Regina since yesterday and head back to Saskatoon tonight after my case to spend the weekend with my hubby and his grandparents! We rarely get to go on road trips together as we both work and travel so much so I have really been looking forward to this weekend even though it is a combo work/pleasure trip!

While I was packing I thought I might as well share what I am packing and how I plan my outfits! Driving is a whole nother ball game as you can bring as much junk as you want and you aren’t limited by weight or number of bags however I didn’t want to go overboard! I much prefer driving personally because I can set my own schedule and don’t have to worry about shopping too much and not having enough luggage room for my junk!!;)

The key to packing for any trip is to coordinate your outfits. You shirts should go with every pant or skirt you bring and your shoes should work with every outfit combination. This may mean you go with a monochrome look and add colour in your accessories! If you are just throwing things in your luggage for the sake of packing you are wasting valuable space! I can bring 2 tops and 3 bottoms that all work together and have 6 outfits for a trip! Packing when it is cold out is also more difficult because your items tend to be thinker, giving you even more reason to plan! With the weather scheduled to be around 5-10C I am going to be layering up like crazy! The trip is 4 days, 2 work, 2 casual days so this is what I am packing!

Hope you enjoy! xo

Lips, Lips Lips!

I love wearing lipstick, it can be worn casually or to dress up any outfit! I feel like some women are very intimidated to wear lipstick and this should not be the case!! You have to think of it like you are just adding another accessory to your outfit! It definitely takes time to master but it is soo worth it when you do! I have outlined the steps I take when I wear lipstick as well as shown my favourite shades I am currently obsessed with! I can only hope that this makes it a little less scary for you ladies to rock a bold, strong lip colour!

Hope you enjoy! xo

Steps:

1. I like to prime my lips whenever I am putting on liner and lipstick. I love Laura Mercier concealer to do this regardless of the colour of lip I am wearing. Using any concealer will help even out the colour as well as provide a base for your lip liner!

2. I line my lips with a similar colour of liner to the lipstick I will be wearing. I will then fill in the lips with this same liner. I personally find that filling in the lips helps make the pigment of the lipstick bolder and makes the lipstick last longer. Keep in mind you can also alter the colour of your lipstick slightly depending on the hue of liner you use!

3. I will apply the lipstick over the liner and make sure to connect the lipstick on either end so you make a complete circle on your lips with the lipstick (i hope this makes sense because its hard to describe!!) Lastly I will line the outer lines of my lips with a concealer using a fine point brush (I also use this same brush and concealer to finish off my brows: hint hint!). This helps finish the look and aid in the precision of the lines of lipstick!

Here are the sequences with the three different shades I used! In order from top to bottom, Too Faced Melted Peony, Too Faced Melted Strawberry, and Too Faced Jelly Donut! My favourite red, pink and nude shades, all of which can be found at Sephora!! My favourite part about these lipsticks is the pigment is so strong and bright, they colour lasts all day and the applicator tip is a beautiful mix between a lipstick applicator and a gloss applicator!
