Colour Pop Liquid Matte Lipstick Review

I first heard about Colour Pop through my cousin, after admiring her lip colour!  I browsed their site for weeks and finally decided to pull the trigger on these three matte lip colours, Limbo, LAX & Trap! For $6 how could you go wrong! PS My last burgundy lip post on Instagram is wearing LAX!

Well, first thing I want to address is Matte Lipsticks are a whole nother ball game that I really haven’t had a ton of exposure to minus the Too Faced Liquid Lipsticks but they really aren’t true Matte. These puppies are true matte almost to a fault. After trying multiple applications I found I had to hydrate my lips prior to application otherwise I found them very drying. You could also add a lip gloss on top however that kind of defeats the purpose of them being matte!

Secondly is once you apply them, wait and let them dry before you touch anything up because if you smudge it becomes a disaster (I know from experience!) and once it is on there it is one there for good! Especially with the darker colours, I found I really had to scrub to get them off however I love the fact that I can wear them all day and not have to worry about touching them up!

Lastly the colour on these babies is undeniable! I am so in love with the pigments that the other factors for me really don’t apply. LAX is the perfect dark burgundy colour, Limbo is a beautiful rich brown and Trap is a grey/nude finish with somewhat of a purple undertone (my go to!) I am super excited to try more of their lines, including their other lipstick, eyeshadows and soon to be released liners!

If you are looking to purchase these matte lipsticks, the price is in US (for my Canadian followers), however they almost always have a coupon code for $5 off. For these three lipsticks plus shipping I paid $23US!

Hope you enjoyed! xo

July Favourites

Is anyone else struggling with the fact that our summer is half over!!! Ahh!! Especially here in Canada we wait so long for the summer to come and when it gets here it is over in the blink of an eye! This month has been especially hectic for us as we await the possession of our home that we have spent the last year building. With lots of ups and downs we are one sleep away from getting the keys to our forever home. I can’t even tell you how relieved and excited I am to start this new phase in our life, something we have waited so long and worked so hard for! Any who! I wanted to round up my favourites from this past month and I look forward to sharing my moving/packing and unpacking tips as well as a preview of our house and how we are decorating!

Hope you guys enjoy! xo

By the colours and patterns of my favourites you would think its already fall however I am so in love with neutrals colour lately that for summer or fall these pieces will be flawless!

Dalmation Leaf Bracelet > This bracelet is gorgeous, the colour combination and pattern make it easy to accessorize with silver, black, grey or brown. It is a perfect transitional piece from summer to fall!

“Casual Fresh”Crystal Quartz Stone Necklace > I love this necklace! I can wear it with jeans or dress it up and it looks amazing in either light. If you are looking for a beautiful Canadian necklace that can be worn so many ways, you can stop looking!

Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipstick in Melted Fig > This colour is so gorgeous, it is the perfect dusty rose with a hint of purple. I will continue wearing this shade to finish out the summer and right into fall!

Express Clothing Gray Mid Rise Jean Leggings (Buy 1 Get One $29.99) I have a tough time finding jeans long enough and comfortable enough to wear, Im big into leggings  for the comfortable reason and these jeggings are so awesome. Jean leggings are the way to go, they look great but are super comfortable and stretchy!

Express Clothing Knotty Wedge Sandal in Natural (currently 30% off!) I have been looking for the perfect pair of nude shoes to wear and when I saw these on sale I couldn’t resist! The knotty details give the shoe some dimension, and they are surprisingly comfortable! I will be wearing these babies until it snows!

Matt & Nat Ohara in Cork > This bag was also featured in my May Favourites but If you follow me on instagram you know my obsession with this bag! I use it every day either as a clutch or a mini purse inside my Raylan work bag. The cork is so beautiful plus it is Canadian made and made of recycled material! Matt & Nat’s new fall line is absolutely stunning and I have my eye on a couple to add to my collection!

Essie Nail Polish in Master Plan > I am usually a gel girl but with our moving fiasco they ended up all falling off so Ive really been into painting my nails lately and when I saw this colour I knew it would become by favourite! It is the perfect combination of a taupe and grey colour, and will be yet another perfect shade to transition from summer to fall!

Whats In My Makeup Bag!

20150403_161127

I should first note I have no education in makeup whatsoever! Like most women I have learned through magazines/friends/mom/youtubing etc and I really enjoy learning about products and trying them out!

Ok, first we are going to talk about my makeup case, how cute is it!!! It is only $12 at Forever 21 (link here)! It easily stores all of my makeup as well as my makeup brush bag which I also snatched up at Forever 21 for $11 (link here). One recommendation for makeup that I use every single solitary time I am buying any piece of makeup, is the Sephora website. I absolutely lovvvve their website for the reviews, you can tell right away if people are loving or hating a product, why and also what colours and shades are better suited for your skin type! Even if I am going into the store to pick up a couple things I will always go online first and sometimes ill even be on the site while I am in the store looking at products!!! Use it, you won’t be dissapointed!!  (Sephora link here)

Below I have broken up every item in my makeup kit and this is also everything i carry on when I am traveling! For links to all of the products just click on the individual names of each item!

Hope you enjoy! xo

The Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palettes: These are so fab and an absolute must especially if you travel. I have the Naked 2 and Naked 3 Palettes. The Naked 2 palette is a combination of browns and golds and the Naked 3 is a combination of rose golds and purples! When I am traveling, I always take these two palettes and I am more than covered for any daytime or night time looks!

Sigma Beauty Brushes: I bought the Kabuki Kit over a year ago and the brushes have held up amazingly! They are synthetic fibers and I have had zero shedding. I also find the price very reasonable considering they do not shed, nothing like spending $30 on a brush and having it shed! Whether you are applying, blending or buffing these babies have got you covered!

Geisha Ink: This is a product I am almost guaranteed to use everyday, it is my go to liquid eyeliner. It is very easy to use and lasts forrrrevvvverr!  I have used Geisha Ink for probably close to three years and love both the brown and black shades for more or less dramatic eyes! I purchase mine at Lash Affair here in Edmonton or you can grab it online!

Anastasia Beverly Hills: This is one of my favourite brands right now! Big bushy eyebrows are in people!! I currently use the Anastasia Contour kit, Dipbrow in Ebony  & Dark Brown depending on the season I like to go a bit lighter during the winter when I am more pale so it is less harsh looking and I transition to darker for summer when my skin isn’t as white as a snowman! I use the dip brow to shape the outer and inner lines and to fill them in.  I will also use the Brow wiz to shape for a more natural look and the Brow Duality for eyebrow highlighting. Lastly I will finish my eyebrows with the Brow Gel to make sure those little hairs stay in place throughout the day!

Tarte:  There are several reasons that I love this brand, the first being that it is 100% cruelty free, no need to harm animals in the process of looking fab! The second is the quality of their products. I love love love their BB Tinted 12hr Primer  which evens out my skin and makes it feel so smooth and their Amazonian Clay Foundation that allows for beautiful coverage, protection against the sun with SPF 15 and never feels too heavy or clogs pores.Next on my list of things to try is their Maracuja Self Tanner, self tanner post coming soon!

MakeUp Forever Full Coverage Concealer: Makeup Forever has a great line of products and this is probably one of the best concealers on the market. The Full Coverage Concealer lightens, brightens and is guaranteed to  hide those dark circles. Whether you are looking for a soft week highlight under the eyes or a full coverage look, this concealer does the job!

Bobbi Brown: This is such a fab line and you are sure to love all of their products, currently I am loving their Vitamin Enriched Face Base, putting this baby on before primer and foundation. It has a great smell and leaves my face feeling moisturized and fresh!

Laura Mercier: Their Translucent Loose Setting Powder  is awesome! I love this powder to set my concealer and and their Secret Camoflauge Concealer  is a great combination to the makeup forever or for hiding those stubborn imperfections. I love that there are two shades in the kit for varying skin tones and unevenness and the coverage on both is top notch!

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer: This Eyeshadow Primer Potion in the shade Sin I literally use everyday regardless of whether I am working or running errands over the weekend. It has a beautiful shimmering champagne colour that looks great by itself or as the foundation for maintaining eyeshadow throughout the day! It really helps hold any eyeshadow I do put on and doesn’t leave it creasy or uneven!

Mac: I love Mac products especially their Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation. It is a great powder foundation if you are looking for a sheer matte finish with a beautiful even coverage!

Too Faced Liquid Lipstick: I am obsessed with these babies right now, they have a huge selection of colors and the pigment is so beautiful, bright and long lasting! The two Melted Long Lasting Liquified Lipstick colours in the photo are Melted Strawberry and Melted Jelly Donut!

Diorshow Mascara: I have used and tried so many mascaras I have lost count but I always seem to end up back with this one. The brush allows for thickness and volume without the clumsiness that is often found with other mascaras. You can also purchase their primer which is amazing for that little extra plumping for a special night out (here). Even when I have lash extensions I am still reaching for this mascara!

Drugstore Favorites:

Lastly I wanted to add this section because lets face it we would all be broke if we only shopped at Sephora, I can literally never leave there without spending under $100!

Benefit Cosmetics is now selling at Shoppers (yay!) and their Porefessional primer and “That Gal” brightening face primer are so fab, they even out your skin tone, prime for your foundation and leave your skin feeling like velvet!

Covergirl: I love their Ready Set Gorgeous line, especially the concealer (pictured in colour light! I also adore their lipstick and lip stain in the hot pink, red and coral shades!

Annabelle: Lastly I love Annabelle’s lip liner, for $5 you’ve got a great pigmented liner that last all day with little to no touch ups needed!
