November Instagram Roundup

This last month has gone by faster than I could have ever imagined! With Christmas and our little mans due date just weeks away it is all starting to sink in that soon our little family of three will be four. I am a ball of excitement and nerves, I just cannot wait to meet our little man!!

We are feeling pretty prepared (I guess as prepared as you can be) but I know nothing will truly prepare us for his arrival!! The nursery is finished, the diaper bag packed and I am slowly in the process of packing Clayton and I’s overnight bag and getting the car seat in the car. It is all so surreal. I remember when I first found out I was pregnant, I kept thinking how long we had to wait to meet our little one and just wanted to fast forward to 9mths and now month 9 is here!!! ah!!!

Any who, I wanted to round up some of my November instagram outfits, this was a big hit last month and I know once baby comes my daily outfits will no longer be instagram worthy (which I cannot wait for by the way!!)

Hope you enjoy!

Winter Essentials

The little dust of snow we got this week has me full on in Christmas mode! Christmas is my absolute favourite time of year and with our little man due Christmas Day it could not be a more special year!!! I love everything about Christmas, the decorations, christmas carols, eggnog, warm clothes, yummy treats and the time spent with friends and family over the holidays!  I am eagerly awaiting for Ikea to have their real trees for sale (Christmas tradition, we go every year and pick out a tree!!) and until then we have a jam packed weekend of prenatal classes and a calligraphy workshop I am taking with my mom!! I am so excited for both I can’t even tell you!!

Any who, back to the post;) I wanted to round up my winter essentials as we creep closer and closer to december because in Alberta you never know what the weather will bring! I also keep hearing we are suppose to have the worst winter we’ve had in years so i have taken it upon myself to be equipped with the cutest, warmest, stylish little pieces I can find!!

Pom Pom Toque

I am obessed with pom pom toques this year and this one from Miss Boss (available in store) is perfection!  Ive linked some alternative toques below!

Diamond Knit Hat   Faux Fur Ear Muffs   Pink Cable Knit Toque   Waffle Knit Beanie

Warm Scarf

You guys know scarves are my jam and one of the reasons I dont mind living in Alberta because you can get away with wearing on 10 months out of the year!!

Jacquard Fringe Scarf  Jackson Rowe Chief Blanket  Multi Colour Fringe Scarf     Jackson Rowe North Blanket Scarf

A To Go Mug

When winter rolls around I tend to make a lot more warm beverages especially when I am on the go throughout the day. Its so nice to have a to go mug that is stylish and will functionally keep your drink warmer for a longer period of time!

Candy Cane Traveler    Sweater Tumblr    Christmas Lights Traveler   Red Quilted Traveler

Mittens

Who doesn’t need a good pair of mittens! There is nothing worse than grabbing onto that frozen steering wheel or getting snow on your hands when you are brushing off your car in the morning!

XO Mittens            Diamond Knit             Cable Knit               Jewelled

OTK Leather Boots

I am such a fan of this style of boot I can’t even express how much I love them. I have worn this pair of boots for the last two winter seasons and they have not let me down! Over the knee boots look great with dresses, skirts, jeans and leggings plus they keep you dry if there is a big dump of snow! Win, Win all around! Ive linked some similar styles below!

Vince Camuto Melaya  Michael Kors Sabrina   Vince Camuto Pedra  Vince Camuto Bendra

Jacket

Last but not least a warm, functional, stylish jacket! I found this jacket at Winners and its by BCBG. I love the leather patching and silver detail. It gives the “typical black jacket” some character! Nowadays there are so many designers and so many different styles of winter coat you can have a lot of fun with colour, detail and trimmings! Let the coat bring out your character!

Noize Original Winter Jacket

I was so excited to share this steal of a deal with you guys I just had to post this today! For ethical reasons I decided to sell my Canada Goose jacket so I had been on the hunt for a new winter jacket that was warm, comfortable and had a faux fur hood and thats when I stumbled upon the Canadian company Noize Original!

Noize constructs beautifully designed jackets to withstand Canada’s coldest of winters and they are ethnically responsible in only using faux fur! So once I decided on the brand I went online to see styles and costs. Their jackets range from $199 to $450 and can be purchased at Sears, Nordstroms and Warehouse One here in Canada! They are all currently offering some amazing deals including 30% to 50% off!!

Now is the time to shop for a winter jacket people!!! I highly recommend this company and for this price you can do no harm! (I bought mine from Warehouse One, there are no more available online however I know several stores in Edmonton that are still carrying them and they are $119 with 50% off, so only $63!!!!! Just call ahead to make sure they have your size before you drive all over the city!)

Hope you enjoy!

My Favourite New Trends

I think it is safe to say this is my favourite fashion post to date!!!!!

As I continue to grow out my hair I have been looking for other alternatives to styling my pixie as showering and styling every single morning is no good! (super jealous of those of you who can rock a ponytail or messy bun!!) so I decided to try my luck at hats and the verdict is… I lovvve them!! This brown one I picked up in Calgary at Chapel’s Hats and the brand is Christy’s. I have linked some similar hats below including one for $12!!! I was really hesitant at first because of the length of my hair. Most women I see wearing this style have beautiful long hair braided to one side or done in curls and now we know a little pixie can be just as cute!

Another trend I am loving right now is Faux Fur Accessories. I picked up this scarf on recommendation from another Edmonton based blogger on instagram and I am in love with it! It is so soft and the multi colours allow so many different outfit pairings and it is currently 60% off!!! Under $20!! (link here). Faux fur is a great way to spice up any outfit especially in the fall and winter. Other faux fur accessories that could be incorporated into any outfit include a faux fur vest, mittens or toque and these require minimal investment and look so fab! I have added some additional faux fur accessories and their links below! I have also linked the remainder of my outfit details below!

I hope you guys enjoy!

Winter Work Wear Essentials

Im not sure whether this should be titled winter or fall work wear considering the snow on the ground and the fact that it is November (Im still trying to wrap my head around this one!), regardless I’ll just go with it! One of the best things about the fall/winter season is the ability to layer! Different patterns and textures allows for a variety of fashionable combinations that are suitable in a work environment. I am loving this pairing of a skirt and printed collared shirt underneath a sweater with leggings and boots. It is very office appropriate while still being comfortable and chic! Below I have shared my fall/winter work wear essentials:

Wool Trench Coat – With winter arriving sooner than expected a great wool trench coat is a must for our Alberta climate! I bought this Michael Kors Wool Trench at Nordstroms on clearance last fall and I have worn it consistently throught the fall and winter seasons. The neutral colouring allows me to pair it with any combination of outfit and the gold details add a beautiful touch for a classy jacket! I have linked its details as well as similar coats below!

Functional Jewelry: I nabbed this necklace for $25 a couple weeks ago and cannot take it off, the quality is pretty good considering the price however I am glad I did not pay the retail price of $68. If you are going to buy the necklace wait for a sale!

Its no secret that I am obsessed with Eliasz & Ella and I wear their amazing bracelets daily, however most don’t know that they also have a gorgeous line of rings and midi rings that I cannot take off! With Christmas coming up their whole jewelry line is perfect for any fashionista! PS They are having a huge Holiday Party this coming Saturday November 14th at Miss Boss here in Edmonton where they will have limited edition pieces as well as some great sales!! I have linked the event page here, see you there!!!

A Wool Skirt – As you may recognize, I am loving wool for this season! Its warm, functional and stylish with unlimited outfit options! This skirt was purchased at Jcrew also on clearance in the states. Details linked below, and remember most of my fall items I purchase in the spring when everything goes on sale!

Sweaters – This basic black sweater is from Joe Fresh, $20 and super cute. You do not need to fork out a lot of money for great sweaters, Joe Fresh and Old Navy have great options in tons of colour choices for a third of what you would pay at Jcrew or similar!

Work Bag: This Matt & Nat Raylan has been my go to bag from the second I got it. With the neutral colouring I have been able to transition from spring/summer graciously into winter without skipping a beat! This bag has everything, a laptop sleeve, 4 exterior pockets and a second pocket on the interior! Whether you need it for work or a diaper bag I highly recommend this bag. It comes in some beautiful colours, is made in Canada and doesn’t hurt any animals in the process!!

Fleece Leggings: I live in these puppies most of the fall and winter! Costco has an amazing deal on fleece leggings, 2 for $12.99!!! Ive bought my fair share as they are great quality and you cannot beat the price!

Collared Shirts – Plaid is a staple of mine and this little plaid number I got at Old Navy as well! They have so many plaid colour variations to choose from it allows you to have some fun with your outfits! JCrew is also an awesome place to get collared shirts, my instagram photo awhile back with the lined collared shirt was from Jcrew on clearance!

Self Tanner: Can you believe how white I look;)

Boots – Last but definitely not least and probably one of the most important for a great fall work outfit is the boots! I love the cognac colour, it gives your outfit a pop of colour without being over baring or lost as many black boots can be if you are wearing a black outfit and black leggings! These Tory Burch boots my hubby picked up at the Toronto outlet (doesn’t he have amazing taste;)!) and I am so in love with them! Key things to look for when purchasing boots, comfort and quality. Boots are something I don’t hesitate to invest more money on because if you take care of them and bring them to your local Shoe Repair store for new soles and a good polishing they can last you several seasons! That being said I have never paid full price for a pair of Tory Burch boots, the outlet malls in the states are the best place to find great styles at a huge discount, all of my boots have been bought in Vegas at the North Outlet Mall!

Hope you enjoy! xo
